Dr. Maeve O’Connor is a distinguished specialist in allergy, asthma, and immunology, recognized for her innovative and integrative approach to patient care. Board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Allergy and Immunology, she is one of only three specialists to have completed the prestigious Fellowship in Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona. Dr. O’Connor has been named in the Best Doctors in America database since 2011 and has consistently been honored as one of Charlotte Magazine’s “Top Doctors” for Adult and Pediatric Allergy/Immunology since 2007.

Dr. O’Connor treats patients of all ages, is fluent in Spanish, and is the only board-certified allergist in her region offering sublingual immunotherapy. Her clinical and research expertise spans asthma, allergic rhinitis, immune deficiency, food allergies, and novel treatments for atopic diseases. She has authored research articles on desensitization immunotherapy, asthma, and food allergy, and she remains actively involved in clinical trials to advance allergy and immunology care.

Dedicated to community health, Dr. O’Connor organizes annual asthma screening events and volunteers with Physicians Reach Out, a program providing free medical care to uninsured residents in Mecklenburg County. She also lectures extensively on allergy and immunology topics at local, national, and international forums.

Dr. O’Connor earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Biology and Spanish from the South Carolina Honors College and her medical degree from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. She completed her internship and residency at the University of Texas, serving as Chief Medical Resident, and received specialized Allergy & Immunology training at the National Jewish Medical and Research Center in Denver, the top-ranked U.S. respiratory hospital.

A Fellow of the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, Dr. O’Connor serves on its Board of Regents and as Secretary of the House of Delegates. Originally from South Carolina, she enjoys traveling, cooking, and hosting dinner parties. Dr. O’Connor is active in the Charlotte community and is a proud parent of one son.
